Food for the Hungry: Ending Poverty Together Bootcamp

ffh-large.png

Hi friends!

Throughout the gospels, Christ turns people's perspectives upside down when it comes to the established social pecking order of his day: He consistently ate with people he shouldn't have eaten with, touched people who were considered "untouchable" and responded to people's immediate, physical needs. His heart for the poor and the marginalized is evident throughout scripture. We are called to join him in seeing people on the margins, treating them with dignity and caring for the physical, as much as spiritual, needs of those around us.

That said, best way to care isn't always straightforward. How to respond to things like the fentanyl crisis, refugee flows from very diverse places, natural disasters or plain, old, grinding, chronic poverty?  We want to wrestle through these challenges together to come to an understanding of how to help in a healthy way. There is hope and there are ways to participate in Christ's work. Come and explore some of this topic in a thoughtful, open space. We'd love to see you there.

Navigating a Sexually Explicit World

How do we navigate life in a sexually explicit world? How do we love God, others and ourselves in a hyper-sexualized culture?

Redemption Church in partnership with Journey Canada invites you to two workshops that will examine what Scripture says about sexuality. We'll also look at the challenges of living out the biblical vision for relationships and sexuality and why living it out matters. Save the dates for the two sessions listed below! No RSVP needed (unless you require childcare - RSVP to Lisl by May 1st) and admission is by donation.

Session One:

Saturday, May 6 from 9:30-11:30am

In session one, we'll look at some of the roots of the broken ways we relate to one another and some keys in the journey toward wholeness. Approximately half of this session will address the biblical vision for sexuality and the biblical basis for that vision.

*Childcare is available. Please RSVP to Lisl by May 1st

Session Two:

Saturday, May 13 from 9:30-11:30am

Session two will focus on the role of leadership and discipleship in developing a healthy Church community. We'll provide some tools for walking with one another in the healing journey including some key spiritual practices. We will conclude with some current challenges that the church is facing as we continue to walk out the biblical vision for relationships and sexuality. Approximately half of this session will address the biblical vision for sexuality and the biblical basis for that vision.

*Childcare is available. Please RSVP to Lisl by May 8th.
