Help Support Red Frogs

Red Frogs is a service group of student volunteers that provides support, harm-reduction, and positive peer influence in the midst of party culture at UBC. Red Frogs has been invited by the UBC AMS to serve 10,000 students at the Block Party on Friday, April 8. They need our help!

This Sunday (April 3), we will be taking up an offering to help cover the cost of the upcoming event. Money donated will go towards purchasing supplies (Red Frog candies, donuts, freezies, etc.). The cost of the event is about $200.

At the end of both the 9 am and 11:15 am services there will be an opportunity to give, so please come prepared to donate if you're able. Cash or cheque will be accepted.

Campus Ministries Sunday: October 18

October 18th is Campus Ministries Sunday 2015. God has brought "Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth" to Canada's campuses. Over 160 nations come to BC to study. It’s missions in reverse!

During the service, we will spend some time highlighting the work of University Christian Ministry and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, two campus ministries that we champion and support, as well as pray for the many students that call Redemption home. After the service, you are all invited to join us at Jericho Beach, as we baptize UCM and Redemption community member Ethan Faris.

Urbana 2015

Urbana is one of the largest student missions conferences in the world and is held every three years. Since 1946, Urbana has been a catalytic event that brings together a diverse mix of college and graduate students, faculty, recent graduates, pastors, church and ministry leaders and exhibitors. Co-hosted by InterVarsity, Urbana remains focused on compelling this generation to give their whole lives for God's global missions.

The 24th Urbana takes place December 27-31, 2015 in St. Louis, Missouri.

VOLUNTEER WITH RED FROGS!

The UBC AMS has once again invited Red Frogs to come and serve at the Welcome Back BBQ on Friday Sept 5. Red Frogs are a service group to the university; providing support, harm reduction, and positive peer presence in the midst of party culture. Red Frog volunteers serve in any way needed; giving away water, donuts, freezies, and the ever addictive Red Frog candies.

The time commitment on September 5th would be from 3 PM - 10 PM.  If you are unable to volunteer during those hours, but want to be involved, we are also looking for a small crew to set up the Red Frog booths at the BBQ at 1 PM.

If you have heart for students and want to have some fun, please contact Tyson at tyson@pgcc.org.

Yard Sale Extravaganza!

Did you know that far above our worship space is an attic full of lost treasures and ancient artifacts? Well it’s true, and it’s time to clean it out!

On Saturday, August 16 at 10AM we are having a Yard Sale Extravaganza!  Our building is at capacity when it comes to storage, so this yard sale will help us clean up the building, make more room, and provide an opportunity for us to meet some of our neighbours. Come hungry and with extra change because there will be a BBQ from 11am – 1pm.  A portion of the proceeds will go towards church missions (Red Frogs and The Doves)

Just like any family yard sale, it’s all hands on deck! We need your help to make this happen. Would you consider helping for one or two hours as we clean out and prepare? Here’s what we need:

Wednesday, August 13 – 6-8 people to help remove everything from the attic. Coffee and donuts provided!

Thursday, August 14 (daytime) – Help sort through what’s junk, what we’re keeping, and what we’re selling.

Friday, August 15 (daytime) – Help price and label items that will go on sale and assist with set up.

Saturday August 16 (8:30 am – 4pm)  – Help set up, cook and sell burgers, run a lemonade stand (kids this is for you!), and clean up.

Please contact Tyson or Lisl if you would like to help out. tyson@pgcc.org / lisl@pgcc.org

While we’re at it, maybe you have some things at home that you would like to clear out and sell. Families/students/households, we have some space for you to set up your own table. Please make arrangements with Tyson or Lisl ahead of time if you are interested.

If you're storing items in the attic, please claim your belongings this week!
