Things look a little different around these parts. With the help of Dunbar Painting, Vancouver Heritage Foundation, and generous community funds donated to cover the costs of the paint job, the Hollywood now looks the same as it did in 1935, the year it was built.
With custom paint colours mixed to match the original colour, donated by Benjamin Moore, the Hollywood Cream and Hollywood Red are now a permanent part of the Heritage Pallatte at Benjamin Moore, and we are so grateful for all the extra work that went into making everything match just right.
Dunbar Painting also went the extra mile and hand painted the red doors with a brush to get the best result, as well as donating some labour time to ensure the tiny details and edges were perfect, so thanks to the crew!
We are looking for someone who has the skill and time to hand letter the "Hollywood" - we don't have a huge budget so it would be a labour of love - if you are an artist with a steady hand and want to help bring the Hollywood back (literally) - let us know!
The neon project, a mix of restoring and repairing the original pieces and making new pieces, will cost up to $13,000 - so we are still accepting donations to bring the Hollywood "glow" back...hoping to have it completed in time for the Christmas season.
