Fat Tuesday Par-Tay

Join us on February 17 for a Fat Tuesday Par-Tay!

Fat Tuesday - the day before Ash Wednesday (the first day of Lent) - is also known as Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday. You might also be familiar with its French equivalent, Mardi Gras, which has evolved into a celebration of excess.

Historically, cupboards were cleaned out and fatty and rich foods eaten up before the beginning of the Lenten season when many communities took part in a 40 day fast. Making and eating pancakes together is one way to eat up the milk and eggs (and ice cream and maple syrup!).

So come and join us for a Redemption Church Fat Tuesday Par-tay and Ceilidh dance. We're going to feast and dance to mark the end of this season of 'Ordinary Time' and prepare ourselves to enter into the season of Lent.

We will eat together from 5:30 - 6:30 pm. The Ceilidh dance will run from 6:45 - 7:30 pm.

Bring along your favourite pancake topping and let us know that you'll be coming. We also could use your help setting-up, making pancakes, and we'd love to borrow your griddle if you have one to spare. If you can help in any of these ways, or to RSVP, contact us at 604-732-5577 or info@pgcc.org

In the meantime, if you'd like to brush up on your Ceilidh dance moves, check this out:
