Join us on February 9th for a Fat Tuesday Par-Tay
Fat Tuesday - the day before Ash Wednesday (the first day of Lent) - is also known as Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday. You might also be familiar with its French equivalent, Mardi Gras, which has evolved into a celebration of excess.
Historically, cupboards were cleaned out and fatty and rich foods eaten up before the beginning of the Lenten season when many communities took part in a 40 day fast. Making and eating pancakes together is one way to eat up the milk and eggs!
So join us the church as we feast on pancakes and dance together to mark the end of this season of 'Ordinary Time' and prepare ourselves to enter a season of Lent. Tim and Melissa Horman will be leading us in an Australian Bush dance.
We will eat together from 5:30 - 6:30pm. The dance will run from 6:45 - 7:30pm.
Bring along your favourite pancake toppings. We also could use your help setting-up, making pancakes, and we'd love to borrow your griddle if you have one to spare. If you can help in any of these ways, email Sarah or call the church office at 604-732-5577.
