Help Support Red Frogs

Red Frogs is a service group of student volunteers that provides support, harm-reduction, and positive peer influence in the midst of party culture at UBC. Red Frogs has been invited by the UBC AMS to serve 10,000 students at the Block Party on Friday, April 8. They need our help!

This Sunday (April 3), we will be taking up an offering to help cover the cost of the upcoming event. Money donated will go towards purchasing supplies (Red Frog candies, donuts, freezies, etc.). The cost of the event is about $200.

At the end of both the 9 am and 11:15 am services there will be an opportunity to give, so please come prepared to donate if you're able. Cash or cheque will be accepted.

UCM Anniversary Celebration

UCM turns 35 this year!

Join us for an evening to celebrate 35 years of what God has done and is doing on BC’s campuses through UCM.

We’re celebrating in the South Great Hall of UBC’s brand new student building on Saturday, November 7. Come dressed classy for a stand-up dessert reception featuring live music, a presentation from UCM’s founder Reid Johnson, and the biggest gathering of students and alumni in ten years. This is going to be a party.

Current students, alumni, and supporters from all campuses are invited. We can fit 400 people in this hall - let’s fill it up!

The Great Hall is located on the 3rd floor of the Student Nest on UBC’s campus. Parking is available at the North Parkade.

Doors open at 7 PM.

Hosted by the UCM@UBC Alumni Association

See you there!

Send UCM to Guatemala

UBC's University Christian Ministry will be heading south on April 30 for ten days to live among and serve the people of El Tizate, Guatemala. The group of eleven students and two campus pastors will assist construction projects at a local school and homes and also provide child and youth programs at small churches in surrounding cities.

The team needs prayer as they continue to prepare for the trip, travel to, and serve in Guatemala. Additionally, the team is seeking people to partner with them financially. If you'd like to donate, click here. Please be sure to type "UCM Trip" in the note box so that your donation goes to this amazing team (a tax receipt will be issued).

If you have further questions, connect with Braden Tompke or Dave Clark.

Muchas gracias, amigos!

Volunteer with Red Frogs

VOLUNTEER WITH RED FROGS!

The UBC AMS has once again invited Red Frogs to come and serve at the Welcome Back BBQ on Friday Sept 5. Red Frogs are a service group to the university; providing support, harm reduction, and positive peer presence in the midst of party culture. Red Frog volunteers serve in any way needed; giving away water, donuts, freezies, and the ever addictive Red Frog candies.

The time commitment on September 5th would be from 3 PM - 10 PM.  If you are unable to volunteer during those hours, but want to be involved, we are also looking for a small crew to set up the Red Frog booths at the BBQ at 1 PM.

If you have heart for students and want to have some fun, please contact Tyson at tyson@pgcc.org.

Red Frogs - Missional Opportunity at UBC

The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC) and BC Campus Ministries (BCCM) have recently formalized a working partnership with an organization called Red Frogs.

Red Frogs act as a service group to the university, offering the benefit of being in the midst of party culture, serving in any way needed, giving away water, donuts, freezies, and the ever addictive Red Frog candies.  Red Frogs provides support, harm reduction, and a positive peer presence in the midst of student celebrations. Their reputation is growing, and student unions around the world are seeing that they truly are giving and serving with no strings attached. Yet, Red Frogs ultimate purpose is to build relationships with students and bring people to Jesus. "Serve to Win" is one of their motto's.

The UBC AMS has recently asked Red Frogs to come and help with the big kickoff party at UBC on  Friday Sept 6th!

Church at the Hollywood is partnering with University Christian Ministry (UCM) to put together a team of volunteers to organize and run the Red Frog event.

If would like to volunteer to be a part of this amazing opportunity, please email me at tyson@pgcc.org

New staff: Summer and permanent

Church at the Hollywood warmly welcomes Tyson Beesley, our new associate pastor! His first day with us was this Monday, and he's spending the summer thinking through and planning homegroups and discipleship in preparation for the fall as well as helping with our worship and young adult ministries.  Tyson worked with University Christian Ministries for many years as a campus pastor, (and will continue to spend time with them until the end of 2013).

He and his wife Kari have been a wonderful and hard-working part of our community for quite some time, and we are excited to have them on board. Tyson can be reached at tyson[at]pgcc.org.

We are also happy to have Regent student Elizabeth Chin on board for the summer as a youth ministry worker. Elizabeth has been volunteering with the youth ministry for the past year and brings her experience in youth ministry as well as a passion to see all ages learn from one another, so if you are wondering how you can contribute to our youth in a positive way and share some of your wisdom and experience, please feel free to contact Elizabeth over the summer to get involved. Her email is: liz[at]pgcc.org.
