We are launching into our Lent series on the theme of Sabbath. AJ Swoboda writes, “Sabbath is a scheduled weekly reminder that we are not what we do; rather, we are who we are loved by. Sabbath and the gospel scream the same thing: we do not work to get to a place where we finally get to breathe and rest – that is slavery. Rather, we rest and breathe and enjoy God that we might enter into rest.”
Marva Dawn in her book, Keeping the Sabbath Wholly mentions that there are four pillars to a proper Sabbath. The four pillars are: to cease, to rest, to embrace, to feast.
Each week we will be exploring one of these pillars.
