Building Family Traditions

Mark your calendars for the evening of Saturday, February 21st. We are hosting a 'Building Family Traditions' Panel and you are invited! Join other parents to hear about what kinds of small and big family traditions they practice in their homes. This is an opportunity to share your own experiences and ask questions about different kinds of traditions you incorporate at home to help shape family life. This can include practices and traditions around: Lent and Easter, Advent and Christmas, birthdays, and other holidays. Living into the fullness of the Christian story can be a challenge at the best of times. Come out and brainstorm and get some ideas about a few simple rhythms that you can incorporate into your family life to help connect with God's big story!

This event will take place at Redemption Church at 7:30 PM.

Please RSVP with Melissa Horman or Lisl Baker (lisl@pgcc.org or 604-723-7400) to confirm your attendance.

Family Resources

Did you know that several different community groups use our space during the week? They offer different supportive and educational programs to parents and families, and their services are available to you.

Parent Infant Group (Run by a Vancouver Coastal Health Public Health Nurse)

This group meets weekly on Thursdays from 1:30-3:00PM at Redemption Church.  It is for parents, grandparents, caregivers and their babies from newborn to eight months. Some of their sessions include: Understanding Baby's Temperament, Infant Safety, Babysitters and Childcare, Healthy Feeding Relationships among many others.

Here is a testimonial from one parent:

I was a part of this parent-infant group when Chloe was a baby almost 6 years ago and found the group to be a wonderful source of encouragement. Some of the moms I met then continued to meet up when our babies “graduated” from the group, and we’ve become good friends who still get together regularly even though our oldests are now in grade 1.  As new parents we were so inexperienced and I struggled especially with exhaustion (our darling newborn cried lots and didn’t sleep much) and isolation. So I highly recommend these groups, especially for first-time moms. I’ll attest to the fact that Maria (Public Health Nurse) is truly a lovely person. She still remembered me when I brought Hannah for her 18-month shots! It’s possible to survive the newborn stage!     -Karen Trotter

ReFrame is coming to Redemption Church!

ReFrame is a 10-week film-based exploration of what it means to follow Christ in the modern era. The course addresses the challenge of connecting Christian faith with all of life. The primary goal of ReFrame is to help Christians open their eyes to see Jesus afresh and then to live fully for him.

A number of our Oikos communities will be running the course this year during their regular meeting times. If you're a part of an Oikos, we encourage you to participate and engage in the course that way. For those that aren't currently in an Oikos, this is a great time to join!

If you're unable to join an Oikos at this time, we still want to make the course available to you. We invite you to join us at Redemption Church on Sundays from 3 - 5pm. The course will run from January 25-March 29. The course is free but registration is required (see the form below).

Childcare is available for kids age three and older. The cost is $25 per child for the entire 10-week course (snacks included). We kindly ask for full payment at the start of the course on Sunday, January 25 (cash or cheque payable to "Point Grey Community Church," our legal name). To RSVP for childcare including the age(s) of your child(ren), see the registration form below or email Megan Clark (megan@pgcc.org) by Friday, January 23.

Welcome, Baby Ruvalcaba!

Welcome, Baby Ruvalcaba!

Malachi Zion was born on December 2 to proud parents Luis and Sophea and big brothers Phylix and Santiago.

A baby changes everything (in the best possible way!) and we've set up a meal planner in order to help them adjust and settle in as a family of five.

Check out the meal planner here. Please sign up for a day and if possible what meal you're taking. There are no allergies but please go easy on the spicy foods. Please prepare food for two adults and two growing and active boys.

If you could kindly drop off the meals at their home between 5:00 - 5:30PM. Please text Sophea when you arrive at 604-813-4633.

Thank you so much for your love and support for this amazing family.
