As we continue our Advent journey, we turn to the theme of joy. In this message, Pastor Ben Goertzen leads us on a reflection on Luke 2, where the shepherds receive a heavenly announcement declaring Jesus as Savior, Messiah, and Lord. What they first heard from the angel, they soon saw for themselves—and that encounter filled them with profound joy.
Luke 2:20 (NLT) says, “The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen.” Their joy flowed from experiencing God’s faithfulness up close. My desire this Sunday is that we too experience the true joy that comes not only from hearing about Jesus, but from seeing Him—both in the humility of His birth but also his divine character as Saviour, Messiah, and Lord.
